Typy.io

Privacy Policy

Effective 3 October 2026. Applies to the game at this website and to the Typy.io Android app.

The short version. Typy.io has no accounts. You type a display name, and that name plus your win count is the only thing about you we keep on our servers. The site shows ads from Google, which may use cookies. We never sell your data.

1. Who we are

Typy.io is run by an independent developer. You can reach us at fatfrogg@froggworkstudio.com. "We" and "us" in this policy mean the operator of Typy.io.

2. What we collect and why

DataWhere it livesWhy
The display name you typeYour browser, our game servers while you play, and our leaderboardSo other players can see who they are playing against and so your wins can be counted
Your all-time win countOur leaderboard, keyed by your display name (or by a random install id in the Android app)To show the top typists on the start screen
Gameplay messages (words you claim, which key you are aiming at)Our game servers, in memory only, for the length of the roundTo run the game. Nothing is written to disk
IP address, browser type, and request logsOur hosting provider, CloudflareTo deliver the site, protect it from abuse, and diagnose errors. Kept for a short period under Cloudflare's standard retention
Settings and progress stored in your browserYour browser's local storage onlyTo remember your name, your "Type through mistakes" preference, and how many games you have played

Please choose a display name that does not identify you if you would rather stay anonymous. Names are screened for offensive words before they appear.

3. What we do not collect

4. Cookies and local storage

Typy.io itself sets no cookies. It uses your browser's local storage to remember your display name, your typing preference, and your games-played and games-won tally. Clearing site data in your browser removes all of it. Advertising partners may set their own cookies, as described in the next section.

5. Advertising

Typy.io is free and supported by advertising. Ads on this site are served by Google AdSense, including banner ads beside the game and, where enabled, full-screen and rewarded ads between rounds through Google's H5 Games Ads programme.

Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and to measure how ads perform. This is personalised advertising. You can:

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before any advertising cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time through the consent link in the page footer once the ads are live. If you decline, you will see non-personalised ads instead.

6. Analytics

The website version of Typy.io sends no analytics to third parties. The Android app uses Google Firebase Analytics to record anonymous gameplay events such as rounds started, rounds finished, and session length, so we can tell whether the game is working and where players give up. These events are tied to a random identifier generated on your device, not to your name. See Google's privacy policy for how Firebase handles data.

7. Other places you can play

Typy.io is also available on game portals such as CrazyGames and in the Google Play Store. When you play there, the portal or store collects data under its own privacy policy, and that policy governs what it does with it. If you log in to a portal account, your wins may be saved to that account so they follow you across devices. This policy covers only what Typy.io itself does.

8. Children

Typy.io is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Players choose their own display name, and we ask that children not use their real name. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will remove it. Where ads are shown to users who may be under the applicable age, we ask Google to serve non-personalised ads.

9. How long we keep data

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to its processing, or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because we hold so little, the practical request is usually "remove my name from the leaderboard", which we will do within 30 days of a request to fatfrogg@froggworkstudio.com. Please tell us the display name involved.

We do not sell personal information and have not done so in the past 12 months.

11. Security

All traffic between your browser and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS and secure WebSockets. The game runs on Cloudflare's network, which provides the hosting, encryption, and abuse protection. No system is perfectly secure, but we hold very little, and we never ask you for anything sensitive.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. Significant changes will also be mentioned on the game's start screen.
